: : LesGai Award
In addition to the competitive session, our festival gives a honorary award called LesGai Award to those film directors or artists who have shown the reality of being homosexual from different aesthetics, often fighting against socially imposed messages.
This year, the maximum honorary awards granted in film festivals of lesbian and gay thematic of Hispanic speech go to :

· Films: Pedro Almodóvar. A delayed recognition that could not be absent in the tenth edition of the greatest festival that the Community of Madrid has nowadays, for a Director we believe has revolutionised the way in which gays, lesbians and transsexuals are seen in a lucid proposal that mixes acidity, ingenuity and the most lovable characters our cinema has given. It is the first time that El Deseo yields Pedro Almodóvar´s films for a Lesbian and Gay Cinema Festival, and it’s the first time Pedro receives an award from a festival like LesGaiCineMad.

· Television: Patricia Vico and Fátima Baeza. Their personification of Maca and Ester in Central Hospital, in schedule of maximum audience, is the first one done by open Television on a girls´ couple, without mockeries: the reality of a couple as it is, as any other, in the middle of a complex story, and treated with respect.

As usual, LesGaiCineMad gives prices to the best films elected by the
public. Our Official Competitive Section has three categories :

- Best Picture 3100€
- Best Documentary 2100€
- Best Short film 900€
- Best Spanish Film 1000€
