Sinopsis: Umbrella cuenta la historia de cuatro individuos transgénero a lo largo de América que luchan por sus derechos y su representación en un mundo en transformación y lleno de retos. Desde servir a su país de forma militar, crear exitosas empresas y abogar por avances políticos, vemos de primera mano sus luchas por la identidad, validez e igualdad.

Synopsis: Umbrella tells the story of four transgender individuals across America who are fighting for rights and representation in a challenging and changing world. From serving their country’s military to building successful businesses and advocating for policy advancements, we see first hand their struggles for identity, validity and equality.

Biografía: Rhys Ernst es pionero como cineasta transgénero. Ha dedicado su vida a amplificar las historias de la comunidad trans. Además de su trabajo como productor en la serie Transparent, ganadora del Globo de Oro y del Emmy, ha dirigido la célebre serie “We’ve Been Around”, y la serie nominada al Emmy “This is Me”. El innovador trabajo de Rhys también ha sido reconocido por los festivales de Sundance, Outfest y Chicago.

Biography: Rhys Ernst is a trailblazing transgender filmmaker. He has made it his life’s work to amplify the stories of the trans community. In addition to his work as a producer on the Golden Globe and Emmy award winning show “Transparent”, Rhys directed the celebrated series “We’ve Been Around”, and the Emmy nominated series “This Is Me”. Rhys’ groundbreaking work has also been recognized by Sundance, Outfest and the Chicago International Film Festival.
