Biografía:
Después de estudiar cine en la Universidad de California y en la Universidad de San Francisco, Kimberley Reed esperaba una prometedora carrera como cineasta. Era joven, ganadora de premios como directora, se había convertido en una experta precoz en el terreno del rodaje y la postproducción de películas digitales. Pero es entonces cuando se cambia de sexo y hace lo que se les anima a hacer a los transexuales: desaparece. "Prodigal Sons" es su primer largometraje documental y marca su salida en más de un sentido. Kimberly Reed está reconocida como la primera directora de películas de transexuales. Ha sido elegida por la revista Filmmaker como una de las 25 nuevas caras del cine independiente.

Biography:
After studying Cinema at UC Berkeley and San Francisco State University, Kimberly Reed was looking forward to a promising career as a filmmaker. She was a young, award-winning, had worked as a commercial editor and she had become an early expert in the nascent field of digital filmmaking and postproduction. But then she transitioned genders and did what transsexuals are encouraged to do: she disappeared. "Prodigal Sons" is her first feature length documentary film, and marks her coming-out, in more ways than one. Kimberly Reed is already recognized as the first transgender feature Filmmaker. She was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film.

Sinopsis: Reed vuelve a su hogar en un pequeño pueblo de Montana para acudir a una reunión del instituto y con la esperanza de reconciliarse con su hermano adoptivo, con el que la relación se ha deteriorado desde hace tiempo. Pero en su transcurso, "Prodigal Sons" saca a la luz impresionantes revelaciones, entre las que se encuentran un parentesco con Orson Welles y Rita Hayworh, intensas rivalidades entre hermanos e inesperados giros de argumento y género.
 
Synopsis: Reed returns home to a small town in Montana for her high school reunion, hoping for reconciliation with her long-estranged adopted brother. But along the way "Prodigal Sons" uncovers stunning revelations, including a blood relationship to Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth, intense sibling rivalries, and unforeseeable twists of plot and gender.
