Sinopsis: Tras haberse mudado a París para iniciar la Universidad, Leevi vuelve a su Finlandia natal durante el verano para ayudar a su padre a reformar la casa familiar que poseen en un lago. Allí conoce a Tareq, un solicitante de asilo sirio contratado para ayudarles. Ambos establecerán una conexión especial que les permitirá ir descubriéndose el uno al otro con el paso de los días veraniegos…
Synopsis: Having moved to Paris for university, Leevi returns to his native Finland for the summer to help his estranged father renovate the family lake house so it can be sold. Tareq, a recent asylum seeker from Syria, has been hired to help with the work, and when Leevi’s father has to return to town on business, the two young men establish a connection and spend a few days discovering one another during the Finnish midsummer.

Biografía: Mikko Makela es un cineasta finés afincado en Londres que, comprometido con el veto silencioso al cine queer en su Finlandia natal, decide volver a dicho país para rodar su ópera prima, A Moment In the Reeds. Tras finalizar sus estudios en Literatura inglesa y francesa, Mikko se inicia en la dirección y edición de numerosos vídeos musicales y de moda, así como obras de teatro, ámbito en el que se involucra plenamente, iniciando su andadura en dicho campo como estudiante en el Drama at City Literary Institute y formando parte activamente del colectivos de teatro como el Arcola Queer Collective.
Biography: Mikko Makela is a London-based filmmaker who, feeling compelled to fill the queer void in Finnish cinema, decided to return to his native Finland to make his debut feature, A Moment in the Reeds’. Since studying English Literature and French at Nottingham University and University College London, in London Mikko has directed music videos and fashion films alongside working as an editor in drama and commercials. Having also studied Drama at City Literary Institute, he was earlier this year seen acting on the stage in the Arcola Queer Collective’s revival of Mae West’s ‘The Drag’ and in John Cameron Mitchell’s film ‘How to Talk to Girls at Parties’.
