Sinopsis: En esta reinterpretación del mikveh, baño ritual purificador de las novias judías antes de casarse, las sumersiones del cineasta y su marido se interrumpen por un gobierno que no quiere reconocer su matrimonio. Mientras que a la pareja se le requiere una y otra vez probar que su relación existe legalmente, el mikveh que comparten les ayuda a sobrellevar las exigentes burocracias y volver a lo que de verdad importa.

Synopsis: In this reinterpretation of the mikveh – a purifying ritual bath performed by Jewish brides about to marry – the filmmaker and his husband’s immersions are disrupted by a government who refuses to recognize their marriage. While the couple is required, again and again, to prove their relationship legally exists, the mikveh they share helps them overcome unforgiving bureaucracies and return to what truly matters.

Biografía: Adrián García Gómez es un artista interdisciplinar que trabaja en film y video, fotografía e ilustración. Su trabajo, que es ampliamente autobiográfico y muchas veces performativo, explora las intersecciones de raza, inmigración, género, espiritualidad y sexualidad. Sus cortos experimentales, fotografías y dibujos se han exhibido por todo el mundo. Actualmente reside y trabaja en Tel Aviv.

Biography: Adrián García Gómez is an interdisciplinary artist working in film/video, photography and illustration. His artwork, which is largely autobiographical and often performative, explores the intersections of race, immigration, gender, spirituality and sexuality. His short experimental films, photographs and drawings have exhibited around the world. He currently lives and works in Tel Aviv.
